Are you in favor of a government-run health care insurance program that would be available to everyone?

KNOW THE FACTS

The end goal here is not to insure the uninsured. The end goal is to make more people reliant upon Government. This is always the Democrats' plan, to secure votes, and thus power.

FACT: The 2006 census estimated 46.4 million Americans were uninsured (about 15%).

FACT: Of those, 14 million qualify for Medicaid but haven't signed up because of the small fee. They sign up once a condition arises, effectively being covered the whole time. Pre-existing conditions do NOT disqualify you from Medicaid.

FACT: 27 million of those uninsured have income OVER $50,000 a year. If you exclude those 14 million effectively being covered by Medicaid, 70% of those remaining are age 18-35, who generally have good health and remain uninsured by choice.

The vast majority of the uninsured are the young and healthy who can afford insurance but choose not too. Also included in the "uninsured" are those in between jobs, which at any time is around 10 million.

This isn't about helping the uninsured, it's about power-hungry politicians, and it's a HORRIBLE plan.

We Need a Public Health Care Option

Only with a public health care option will most of the uninsured be covered. Anyone who thinks that private insurance will cover people with expensive preconditions is sadly mistaken. Forcing the uninsured to purchase from a private insurance carrier just funnels money into the private carrier and does not assure that these previously uncovered will be able to get any real health care.

President Obamas Health Care Initiative

The opponents to Obamas Health care plan say that there are alternatives to his plan. Well this is probably true but there are also some 47 million Americans without insurance and for the last 20 years all anyone has done is talk. No one except Bill Clinton and Barack Obama have tried to credibly do something about it. So given the inaction of the past administrations I think it's about time to just get on with it and have national health care coverage for everyone.
